Kodiak Ultra Marathon by UTMB in Big Bear Lake

Runners on scenic mountain trails during the HOKA Kodiak Ultra Marathon by UTMB in Big Bear Lake, California

The Kodiak Ultra Marathon Big Bear returns October 9–11, 2025, turning Big Bear Lake into a trail runner’s paradise. Athletes from around the world will test their limits on rugged alpine trails, pine-covered ridges, and sweeping lake vistas—all at over 6,700 feet of elevation.

With race distances from 10K to 100 miles, the event welcomes both elite ultra runners and adventurous first-timers. Every course showcases the best of Big Bear’s high-altitude terrain and crisp mountain air.

This year’s field includes a mix of world-class elites and passionate everyday runners, all sharing the same challenging course and mountain spirit. Whether chasing podium finishes or personal milestones, participants push through the same climbs, dust, and breathtaking scenery that define the Kodiak experience.

As part of the prestigious UTMB World Series, Kodiak stands out as one of the few “Major” races in the Americas, offering double Running Stones toward UTMB Mont-Blanc qualification and automatic entry for top finishers.

Beyond the trails, the weekend comes alive with a festival atmosphere—music, food, local vendors, and plenty of spots for spectators to cheer. Whether you’re racing, volunteering, or just soaking in the mountain energy, Big Bear Lake is the place to be this October.
