Run, laugh, and feast this Thanksgiving morning at the Big Bear Turkey Trot! This mountain-town tradition brings families and friends together for a 3-mile fun run through the scenic Rathbun Creek Trail and Moonridge corridor.
Expect costumes, crisp alpine air, live music, and a run through the Big Bear Zoo at the finish line—because in Big Bear, fitness and fun always go hand in hand.

What’s New in this year’s big bear turkey trot
This year’s Turkey Trot introduces an updated course and fresh features:
- A new Moonridge Corridor starting line at Dank Donuts

Registration fees help support Bear Valley food banks and cover all event expenses. Participants are encouraged to add an optional donation when registering. The Turkey Trot happens rain, shine, or snow—no refunds are issued.
What’s Included
Participants receive a finisher ornament, a yoga warm-up session, a special Turkey Trot Christmas Ornament for all the finishers, and entry to the costume contest and Thanksgiving fun run after-party.

Big Bear Turkey Trot Packet Pickup
Two options are available for packet pickup:
- Monday–Wednesday, November 24–26 (4–6 PM)
The Yellow Post, 546 Pine Knot Blvd, Big Bear Lake, CA (recommended) - Thursday, November 27 (8–9 AM) — Day of event

Participants may pick up their bibs and race packets during either of these times. Those choosing race-day pickup should arrive early to avoid delays. Please bring a photo ID or the registration confirmation email. If collecting for another participant, bring a photo of their ID and a screenshot of their confirmation email.
The Race and Course
The 3-mile Turkey Trot welcomes both runners and walkers of all levels. Strollers are allowed, and families are encouraged to participate together. Children riding in strollers should start at the back of the pack.
Awards will be given to the top three finishers in each age division. Restrooms and hand-washing stations will be available on-site. There is no designated area for storing belongings, so participants should keep valuables in a small running bag. Pets, scooters, skateboards, and bicycles are not permitted on the course for safety reasons.
Parking
Parking is available in the Bear Mountain parking lot next to Moonridge Road. Participants must follow all posted parking signs and avoid blocking driveways or parking on private property.
Volunteer and Results
Volunteers are always welcome and can sign up through the event website. Each volunteer receives an official event T-shirt and a custom Big Bear Turkey Trot souvenir as a thank-you for helping make the run a success.
Official race results will be posted on RunSignUp after the event.
Awards and event merchandise cannot be mailed. Registration fees and included items such as medals and shirts are non-refundable.
In the event of severe weather, community emergencies, or other public safety issues, decisions will be made with safety as the top priority. The Turkey Trot will not issue refunds or postponements, as event funds are already allocated to permits, supplies, and charitable contributions.
